“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan, while expressing solidarity with the victims and casualties of the Herat earthquake, is prepared to coordinate and guide international assistance to the earthquake-affected individuals in line with humanitarian cooperation and Russia's Kazan Declaration and increase its border services to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid," the embassy said in a statement posted on social media.
At least 15 people were killed and dozens injured after an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit western Afghanistan early on Saturday. The epicenter was near the city of Herat.
